Research shows that approximately 90% of children who are sexually abused know their abuser. This statistic is essential to understand if we want safeguarding practice to be effective. While the 10% relating to strangers remains relevant, the 90% reflects the most urgent safeguarding concern.
Project 90-10 is set up for the public benefit to campaign, awareness-raise and prevent child sexual abuse. Our educational PACK supports adults to understand the specific risks and complexities posed by the statistic that more than 90% of sexually abused children already knew their abuser.
As a grassroots charity, we work tirelessly behind the scenes with a wide network of professionals — including therapists, education specialists and our partners, Slater & Gordon Lawyers — to ensure our safeguarding practice remains robust, informed and responsive to the realities children face today.

We are still a relatively new, grassroots charity, doing all we can while continuing to build strong partnerships and expand our network whilst building our safeguarding programmes and awareness around child protection
